Surfboard Demo Centre
We here at Zuma Jay fulling encourage a 'try before you buy' scheme in order to find the right board that is perfect for you. We have a large surf hire and demo centre which allows our customers to try out a wide range of board styles, shapes and sizes for as long as they want and take our equipment wherever they want... and the best part about it? You won't lose any money!
To start your demo scheme with us, it doesn't matter whether you're a pro or a complete beginner to surfing, all you have to do is come into the shop have a chat with us and tell us your experience / what style of surfer you are and what you're looking for in your next board. If you've seen any boards that have caught your eye then tell us and we can explain more about it and how certain aspects of that board may or may not be right for you, and from there we can recommend something from our fleet that will be great for you. We will present you with a very important hire slip which keeps track of what boards you've tried and how you got on with them and from there we keep recommending boards until you find the one that delivers for you! We then total up the amount you have spent on hire, and take all that money off the full cost of the board you have chosen!!
For complete beginners that want to purchase their first board, it is essential that the board is tested before paid for. This is because bigger companies, particularly online, have no consideration of the abilities of their customers and will happy sell a board that is not suitable at all. This is no fault of the customer, but it is driven by misinformation presented online, usually by surfboard manufacturers that market their boards by showing that their more advanced boards can be ridden by beginners which is not that case and is a way for them to make money on a wider audience base.
This misinformation can also be given to more intermediate surfers when they want to start moving down to a smaller board. Factors such a "literage" can be very misinterpreted and badly taken out of context when researched online so we are trying to debunk this problem by letting our customers try anything they like and see for themselves instead of shelling out hundreds of pounds to risk buying a board online before realising it's not a suitable board for them.
But the most important thing to us is making sure people walk out with something that they are stoked with and they know works perfectly for them!
We stock a large range of premium boards, from all of our custom shapes (Blob Fish, Speed Dialler, Easy Rider etc.) to branded Surftech's, Lib Tech's and Channel Islands.
For beginners, any foam boards or Bic boards are £15 for a 'Cornish' 24 hours (take any time from 9am, then return any time the following day before we close).
For premium hire (which includes anything from NSP to previously mentioned branded boards) it's £25 per 'Cornish' 24 hours.
We also do a weeks hire for the price of 4 days, so if you want a weeks premium hire it's £100 to try out as many top-end boards as you like! You hire the time and not the equipment, so if even you have a surf on a board for an hour and don't like it you can come back and swap it. How many boards can you surf in a week?
Remember, with our demo scheme all money spent is recorded, so when you settle on that magical board then all hire costs are taken off!
