Surftech and Takayama Surfboards
It's that time of year again, new stock is arriving daily for the new season and many new boards are on their way to us. We're getting prepared for their arrival, brushing up on the new technology and studying the new shapes. Surftech's new 2017 range certainly has not disappointed. In this post we are going to take a look at the new Takayama surfboards that will be arriving with us at the end of March, We cannot wait to get our hands on them.
About Donald Takayama
Donald Takayama's legacy has been cemented since his passing, thanks to the ongoing winning combination of designing and making some of the worlds best boards, that are surfed by best surfers, on the best waves. Due to his boards being so well renowned thought the surfing community his boards are still some of the most sought after in the surf industry.
Takayama was famous for his progressive designs that combined both traditional, and high performance aspects into every board he made. The result being that the best surfers sought out his boards, using them to bring their surfing to the next level.
Donald Takayama and Surftech worked together for over 20 years prior to his passing. Their relationship was built on mutual trust and a commitment to produce quality product that would compliment the designs he so passionately created. It is an honour for Surftech to perpetuate Donald's legacy by continuing to manufacture his most iconic, and proven designs.
Donald wanted to make a wider tail, Narrower nose and more rounded out version of the popular Scorpion for his friends on the South Shore of Oahu. This wide tail volume allows the surfer to go a little shorter in length if they prefer, and allows for multiple fin combinations (single, 2+1, or quad setups) this board excels in smaller conditions to well over head high surf. It is a very fast paddler with easy tail control. A must for every surf quiver.
The ultimate high performance noserider! This is definitely the most loved, and sought after model in Donald's range. Able to surf anything from one foot slop, which we are unfortunately far to familiar with on our British shores, to overhead barrels, the In The Pink is definitely THE one longboard you must own. Perfect for the rider looking to own one dynamic longboard, or someone who is looking to become more accustomed to the nose, the In The Pink will have you loving your surfing again.
The Beach Break's with it's 2+1 setup can be described as Donald's high performance, progressive longboard. For those that believed Donald to be too old fashioned, feast your eyes on this Beach Break model. The hard down rails, Extra rocker performance nose, and squash tail all combine to make Tayakayama's most innovative longboard.
With the long awaited arrival of the Takayama Scorpion 2, and the evolution of the new Tuflite Pro Carbon technology from Surftech, We are super excited about getting these boards in the shop. We'll be getting them straight in the water if we can hang on to them for long enough. Follow us on our social media, Facebook, instagram, ect. to keep up to date with the new arrivals, and be the first to hear how we get on!
